Disappointed is the word I would use. On checking in for a two night stay, I was advised my room was 'through the bar and turn left, room 402'. I went through the bar and turned left. No sign of any rooms or any sign directing me to rooms. I went through a fire door and saw 4 doors - marked 1, 2, 3 and Conference room, so I thought I had gone into a private area so turned back. I went back to the bar and asked the bar man, who said 'just turn left through there'. Helpful. I found someone else who took me back to the doors marked 1, 2 and 3. Mine was 2 and I was supposed to know this how? So I am told by reception my room is 402, so I look for 402. That, to me is normal. There was no apology or acknowledgment that is a little misleading. Just a smile and a 'this is your room'. No tea and coffee facilities in the room, so I just thought as I was in a more standard room, I didn't get any. As I was only there for two nights, I was more intent on enjoying the beach and surrounding area so didn't really think anything at that time. However, the next evening, I checked their website which said all rooms had tea making facilities. I spoke to reception staff who said she would check with a manager and get back to me. Apparently, the kettle, milk, cups etc are kept in a cupboard I didn't even use! I have never stayed in a hotel and had to go looking through cupboards for the kettle! Again, I was made to feel this was normal practice - no apology for lack of information and no token gesture due to the fact I had paid for something and not had due to lack of information. Cooked breakfast was a joke - especially for the price, including one rasher of bacon, one over cooked sausage, one small mushroom, one egg, one tomato, one spoonful of beans and a greasy hash brown. On reading other reviews, the hotel seems to do well with special gestures for birthday's etc, but I would suggest they go back to basics, and also train their staff on how to deal with customer feedback properly instead of just saying we do it this way. Room was nice and comfortable but you are paying for the location.

Set in a beautiful location with views across the whole of Fistral beach, the rooms are clean, modern and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The ESPA Spa samples in the bathroom are great. The food in the Dunes restaurant is excellent and staff are very attentive and friendly. Just a shame I was here on a short business stay instead of leisure, so didn't get to use the spa.

The spa and treatment was really good, loved it. However the room wasn't up to scratch, the shower had a crack in the back of it so water was spurting out of both sides drenching the room and the temperature of the water kept going boiling hot in surges. The restaurant was the biggest let down of all, which is the main reason that puts me off returning. The Dune Restaurant. The started the ham hock terrine was awful, we had items missing from the plate, the bread was cold and stale. The main was chicken with gnocchi spinach and wild mushrooms. Me and my partner got one mushroom each, the gnocchi was clearly bought in frozen, the sauce was runny and a bit watery, the chicken was nicely cooked though. Dessert was chocolate delice which was nice until I was chewing on a piece of plastic that was somewhere in my dessert... After this meal we went back to the room and ordered a pizza from a local takeaway. Breakfast was okay.

Lovely staff and good size room. Lighting in the jacuzzi and swimming pool showers were so bright it ruined the opportunity to fully relax. Breakfast was cold on arrival and no toast served with the full English so you have to leave your table, queue and use one of those dreadful toasting conveyor belts which doesnt really toast bread at all. The hotel is in a good location and would recommend despite these small niggles.I would strongly advise management to change the bulbs in the jacuzzi and showers as you cannot appreciate the very beautiful (and probably expensive) spotlight ceiling over the pool as the surrounding lighting is too overpowering.

Recently spent a day here for a spa day with the wife. Great food! Brilliant value! Excellent experience and friendly staff! We both came away feeling totally relaxed. Will definitely do it again!!
