Fantastic little place off the beaten track. Amazing to get into all the keys and have a play. Great fun for all ages , well worth the money.
We went here for the second time this year after my partner so thoroughly enjoyed it last year. In the space of a year since our last visit there were new aircraft and exhibits, including a simulator station, so we are interested to see what will have changed before on our next visit. The place is largely manned by volunteers who also do a lot of the work restoring the aircraft. They have a great enthusiasm for the topic and will gladly answer any questions you may have. One other thing that really makes this place stand out is the chance to sit in/walk through so many different aeroplanes, it helps give you a real feel for the thing and made the trip so much more enjoyable.
If like me, your a child of the 80s/90s that went to air shows, this is great. Its not huge but its got some very interesting aircraft on display, most if not all of them you can get inside and have a look around. Run by volunteers with a passion for this stuff. Tickets/entrance is valid for a week (if you sign the book when paying). My kids really enjoy it (under 10s) and they get to learn a bit too.
Went with my 14 year old son thinking we would be disappointed but was so wrong. The story of the volunteers setting the centre up from planes dumped by an organisation that moved out and left both them and some of the planes behind was inspiring. Great to be able to sit in the cockpits of many planes and have short tours round others. All the volunteers were so helpful, interesting and chatty it made it all even better.Good little cafe as well . Really pleased we went and will be looking for ways to support them.
A nice little outdoor museum with tour guides that actually know what they're talking about it's not from what they've read in a book so it was a nice change and adds a good character to the museum. It's situated in an airfield which makes it more exciting for the kids and you can actually get in most of the cockpits in the planes which is all the kids really want to do when they see a plane. I'd definately recommend this museum for anyone that loves planes and history.
